Top 5 Warmest Women’s Winter Pants & Bibs for 2024!

Women's Pants & Bibs

Nobody likes to be cold and miserable or too hot in extreme cold. We want clothes that keep us warm enough but still breathable enough that we don’t get too hot. It can be the difference between life and death in extreme weather conditions.

Our legs are appendages, not our core, so blood can flow from them in our body’s effort to warm our core. So, like our feet and hands, our arms and legs need the right layering and type of clothing to keep us warm in extreme conditions.

The title of this article is focused on the “warmest” women’s pants and bibs. Our website is focused on the “highest quality.” So this article is focused on the highest quality, warmest women’s winter pants and bibs. 1. Fortress All Weather Gear Storm Bib

Fortress All Weather Gear Storm Bib

The “Fortress All Weather Gear Storm Bib” insulation these bibs are made of is so extraordinary that you probably won’t believe what they can do unless you watch the video below! I bought head-to-toe outfits made by Fortress for my wife and I and all our married children and their spouses. That is how excited we are about this.

These bibs are created with Fortress’s patented, cutting-edge AERIS™ 250 insulation, which has been shown to keep a person warm and comfortable in below-freezing temperatures, even if you get soaking wet.

The guys from Fortress traveled up to a frozen lake in -10°F temperatures, cut a hole in the ice, and had one of their crew members jump in to test this insulation! It sounds crazy, but they really did this!

They have performed this test numerous times and found that a minute or two after the person exits the water, they are no longer cold and shivering but are warm and cozy despite being soaking wet in -10 F temperatures.

I want to show you a video of Fortress cutting a hole in the ice in -10 F weather while wearing a base layer made of their AERIS™ 250 insulation material. It is amazing and worth the few minutes to watch the video below!

Okay, let’s get to number two of my top 5 list of the highest-quality, warmest women’s winter pants or bibs!

2. Apocalypse Design Expedition Bibs

apocalypse design expedition bibs

The Apocalypse Design Expedition Bibs are very interesting winter pants. These are winter expedition bibs that are made to order. It can take up to 6 to 8 weeks to get them when you order them because they make them specifically for you, and it just depends on how backed up they are.

Apocalypse Design is a small company located in Fairbanks, Alaska. They like to say that their products are “made by Alaskans for Alaskans.”

The insulation used in the expedition version of these bibs is made with a double layer of Climashield APEX, a 6.0 oz lightweight continuous filament insulation. According to Climashield, this insulation “is the lightest weight and most thermally efficient continuous filament insulation on the market today.”

The stock shell is Ultrex, a breathable, wind and water-resistant material lined with taffeta. These bibs are made to keep you warm with enough room to layer if you need to.

Pros:

  1. Exceptional Warmth: These women’s Expedition Bibs are rated to keep you warm in temperatures -60°F (51°C).
  2. Moisture Wicking: The Climashield APEX insulation is synthetic and does a great job of wicking the moisture away from your skin.
  3. Wind/Water Resistant Shell: The Ultrex shell is a wind and water-resistant material lined with taffeta and is breathable.

Cons:

  1. Price Point: These bibs’ advanced technology and quality materials make them more expensive than many lesser-quality coats.

3. Kuiu Super Down Pro Pant

Kuiu Super Down Pro Pant

The Kuiu Super Down Pro Pant is built for low-level activity when temperatures plunge. They are Kuiu’s warmest down pants, sized to fit over a person’s mid-layers and insulated with 3.2 oz of 850+ fill Quixdown. Their down is treated with TORAY’s DWR, so each individual down cluster is impervious to water and keeps its insulating loft even when wet.

The outer shell is a 30D Stunner Stretch fabric that is heat-treated to keep the down from migrating through the material. It is also K-DWR treated to repel light rain and snow. The Super Down Pro Pant’s features include full-length zippers for easy on-and-off without removing boots and reinforced 70D x 80D paneling along the seat, knee, and cuff. They compress and self-stow inside the left pocket, and they are extremely light.

I ranked these pants above the Feathered Friends Bibs even though it has slightly less fill down because its down is treated and retains its insulation ability even if wet.

Pros:

  1. Exceptional Warmth: These Kuiu Super Down Pro Bibs with 850+ fill down we know are warmer than the Canada Goose pants below, rated down to -22°F (-30°C).
  2. Treated Down: This down insulation is treated with TORAY’s DWR, so each individual down cluster is impervious to water and keeps its insulating loft even when wet.
  3. Wind/Water Resistant Shell: K-DWR treated to repel light rain and snow and is breathable.

Cons:

  1. Price Point: These pants’ advanced technology and quality materials make them more expensive than many lesser-quality coats.

4. Feathered Friends Frontpoint Down Snow Pants

Feathered Friends Frontpoint Down Snow Pants

The Feathered Friends Frontpoint Down Snow Pants keep you warm. The outer layer is a waterproof and breathable fabric called Pertex® Shield® XT. The legs and seat are reinforced with Taslite. The insulation is a high volume 900+ fill down.

These bibs don’t give any temperature rating that I have been able to find, and I searched way too long today on the internet trying to find out. However, with 900+ fill down, we know it is warmer than the 800 fill down Canada Goose Bibs below that is rated for -22°F (-30°C). My guess would be somewhere between that and -30°F ish.

The fill weight of the insulation used is 7.7 oz / 218 g (size Medium). The cut of the Bibs fits above the waist and has adjustable suspenders. This ensures overlap with shorter jackets and prevents unintentional exposure.

Pros:

  1. Exceptional Warmth: These Frontpoint Down Snow Bibs we know are warmer than the Canada Goose Bibs below rated down to -22°F (-30°C).
  2. Reinforced: The knees and seat of these Bibs are reinforced with Taslite.
  3. Wind/Water Resistant Shell: The Pertex® Shield® XT shell is a wind and water-resistant material lined with taffeta and is breathable.

Cons:

  1. Price Point: These bibs’ advanced technology and quality materials make them more expensive than many lesser-quality coats.

Cons:

Final Thoughts

Having the warmest winter pants or bib is extremely important to those in the harshest cold conditions. It is the difference between being warm, comfortable, miserable, and possibly dead. The pants we have listed in this article are the very best of the best!

I have learned over the years that you get what you pay for. If you buy cheap clothes they don't perform as well and don't last as long. Quality clothes are much more enjoyable to where and because they last so much longer they save you money over time. And they perform a lot better. That is why I enjoy writing for this website.
