The Gore-Tex® three-layer material they are made of is known for being windproof and waterproof, not just water resistant. Its membrane’s pores are 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule, allowing perspiration to evaporate through the fabric. So the pants keep you dry and comfortable.

Gore-Tex® is made from polyester. It is a tough, tear-resistant material, so it is used for many outdoor sports, such as mountain climbing. The Alpha pant is the beefed-up higher-end pant for Arc’Teryx, the material is thicker than some of its other rain pants.

One popular feature of these pants is their elastic waistband, making them fit snuggly and stay up without a belt. They also have one long side zipper on each leg, going from about mid-thigh down to the bottom of the legs. The zippers start lower down on the leg than the Arc’Teryx pants above.

Since these pants are also made from Gore-Tex®, they are windproof, waterproof, tough, durable, and breathable. These are some very well-built rainpants.

3. Marmot Women’s Minimalist Gore-Tex Rain Pants

The Marmot Women’s Minimalist Gore-Tex Rain Pants are also high-quality women’s rain pants. And they are also very good-looking rainpants. They are almost as lightweight as the Arc’Teryx pants we first looked at above. These pants weigh just 9 ounces (262g).

Marmot designed these “minimalist” rain pants for backpackers and bicycle commuters. With both sports, weight and excess are kept to a minimum.

These pants do not have the side zippers like the two rainpants we looked at above. But they do have zipper-closing pockets and a partially elastic waistband to keep the pants snug and on you without a belt.

Since they are also made from the Gore-Tex® fabric, these pants are tear-resistant, durable, windproof, waterproof, and breathable.

4. Patagonia Women’s Torrentshell Rain Pants

The Patagonia Women’s Torrentshell Rain Pants are also a high-quality rainpant. And they are very nice looking and stylish. They are made of ripstop nylon. Patagonia has tested this fabric’s windproof and waterproof abilities and claims it lasts a very long time.

These rain pants are almost as lightweight as others we have listed above. They weigh just 10.9 ounces (309g).

The materials used to make these pants are 100% recycled. Like the Gore-Tex® used in the above rainpants, the ripstop nylon used in Patagonia’s Torrentshell Rain Pants is also very breathable.

These rainpants have side zippers to allow for extra ventilation. They also have zipper-closing pockets. They have a snap at the bottom of the leg to help keep the zippers from opening. The waist has a pull-on elasticized waistband with an internal draw cord.

5. Mammut Women’s Alto Light Rain Pants

The Mammut Women’s Alto Light Rain Pants are also very high-quality women’s rain pants. They don’t look as stylish as the others to me; they are blocky-looking with slight bell bottoms.

They are right in there when it comes to being super lightweight. They weigh just 9.84 ounces (279g).

These pants have full-length water-repellent side zippers to allow for extra ventilation. And the hem and leg width can be adjusted using Velcro fasteners.

While these pants are not made from Gore-Tex®, they are made from a similar polyester material that is completely windproof, waterproof, and breathability. All in all, the Mammut Women’s Alto Light Rain Pants have many redeeming features. Depending on what you use them for, I think they will do the trick.
